AWCC had a great weekend racing with 2 overall winners at the Wangaratta Tour. Everyone had fun with pending storm holding off just in time to get all stages run and won. Declan Gregory won opening B grade stage after being lead out by Shane Way. Another win in the afternoons time trail and smart racing on Sunday was enough to seen him win by 31 seconds from James Fox, with club mate Jacob Hanna finish third 1:17 behind Declan. The biggest upset of the weekend was by AWCC junior Liam McAlister. Sitting in 10th place at the start of Sunday’s racing. Liam made back a big chunk of time in the hill climb stage finishing third. In the afternoons kermesse Liam broke away in the opening kilometres. With group being control by club mates Callum Dwyer and Ashley O’Farrell, Liam open up a break of 30 seconds by end of first lap. He was them was join by Troy Watts from Cobram CC. Together there rode away to finish more than 2 minutes ahead of the bunch. Though Liam finish second to Watts, with time bonus it was enough to put Liam into first on GC. Other noteworthy results for the weekend include Brian Harris win in C grade time trail, beating most of his grade by a minute. Brendan Washington winning A grade king of mountain prize. Aaron Mills second place in the A grade kermesse. Well done to all club member who made the commitment to race over the weekend.
