HAVE YOU EVER CONSIDERED CLUB RACING?

DO YOU NOT SEE THE VALUE OF PURCHASING A RACE LICENCE AND ONLY COMPETING IN 2 OR 3 RACES PER YEAR?

The AWPCC Criterium series is about to start up once again out at the DECA Wodonga Tafe course at Albertson Rd, Barnawartha this Wednesday 10th October, and continue each Wednesday night.

Cycling Australia also have a deal where if you don’t have a racing licence and you sign up after 1st October 2018, you get 15 months for the price of 12 months (licence until 31.12.2019). This is a great way to get good use of your racing licence with a chance to do 9 criteriums on a 2019 licence before 2019 even arrives!!! To register, click here

http://membership.cycling.org.au/ (to become a member of the Albury Wodonga Panthers Cycling Club you would choose Cycling Victoria).

For anyone who has a MTBA racing licence, you cannot race with that but Cycling Australia offer a discount to MTBA licence holders when you sign up for a road racing licence.

Alternatively, a 3 race licence can be purchased online here
https://eventdesq.sportstg.com/index.cfm…

For insurance reasons, you cannot race without a licence. Cycling Australia also require any riders in a road race in Victoria to have a non-flashing tail light on.

The DECA Wodonga Tafe course is a closed race circuit 1.5km in length with a hot mix surface.

Sign on is from 5:30pm to 5:55pm. An entry fee of $7 for anyone who wants to race. Please don't bring a $50 note. Something smaller is much easier to give change for.

Between now and Christmas time, some great Border business like Urban Graze and Bakers Delight have come on board to supply the winners of each grade with some vouchers.

B Grade – start at 6:00pm and race for 35 minutes plus 3 laps.
D Grade – start at 6:01pm and race for 20 minutes plus 2 laps.

A Grade – start at approx. 6:45pm and race for 45 minutes plus 3 laps.
C Grade – start at approx. 6:46pm and race for 25 minutes plus 2 laps.

Juniors start at 6:01pm with D Grade.

All grades are mixed male and female

Albury Wodonga Panthers Cycling Club is a friendly welcoming club. Anyone wearing a blue AWPCC shirt or cycling kit on the day would be happy to meet you answer any questions. So come and have some fun and make some new friends.

Get ready to race

Criterium series 2017
After a fantastic set of criterium races at the start of this summer, we're set to race again.
Start: Wednesday 25 January, sign on from 5:30pm
LocationWodonga TAFE Logic CampusAlbertson Road, Barnawartha
News: watch the club Facebook page for confirmation of details & updates

A series?
At the moment, we're planning fortnightly racing (so week #2 is on 8 February).
Come for one race or many - each week will be great. If you can make a few and stay consistent, you could be a series winner.

It's 2017
New Year means two things: write the wrong date for many weeks, and renew your racing licence (or get a new licence). You will need a current licence to race, and we will need to see proof - the card, or the confirmation email.
This is the link for racing memberships.
See you next week. And don't forget your membership!

PS, for trackies
Junior track training and riding starts again for 2017 on Monday 23 January, at the Pearsall Street Velodrome, from 5:30pm. The riders are having a great time with club legend Greg Featonby. We'd love to see more join in.

December already - lots of riding to do.

Club Championships are on this week (7 December) for criterium racing. The Christmas Party for all on the following weekend (10 December). And we really need helpers with a number of club roles as we head into 2017.

We've had four great evenings of racing at Wodonga TAFE's driver education centre, Barnawartha. There's one more for 2016, on Wednesday 7 December. These races will be our club championships for each grade. Get there from 5:30pm to sign on & pin on a race number. As you'd expect, only AWPCC members can become club champion. But all-comers can race. The more the merrier! If you're off the bike, come and watch. You'll see more than just 11 seconds at the end, like the video below from 23 November.

Help needed: running the club.

There is a desperate need for us to have more club members helping out - in many roles. Without more hands to assist, we really won't be able to run races. Yes, it's that big a deal.

People have changes with workload, or family needs, or move from the area ... so they have to step down from roles. Can you - or your nominee! - help with the general club committee? Or the race committee (that's imperative)?

It's clear people are contributing - look at those who set up signs, marshal, etc. But what we're looking for is people who can help with fundamental club-running activities.

How? Come to general committee (Monday 12 December, 7:30pm, 374 Amatex St, East Albury). Or email the secretary, Chris Little awpcclub@gmail.com.

Quick notes:

  • Junior Track Cycling runs for two more weeks before a Christmas-New Year break. That is: 5:30pm @ Pearsall Street Veldrome, on 5 & 12 December.
  • Don't forget to renew your licence before it expires at the end of December.
