Special mention to Andrew Falconer for being our Commissaire for the series and his time.

After racing and presentations, everyone stayed back and enjoyed some amazing wood fired pizza. Thankfully by then the temp had dropped significantly. The great thing about a local club is that we are all friendly. Everyone moved about talking with each other.

After a short break over christmas and New years, the Crits will resume from Jan 3rd. There was also some exciting news tonight about our "1k Crit series" starting on Wednesday 21st Feb 2018. No matter what grade you race in; A, B, C, or D grade, if you start 6 of the 7 crit races in this next series (21st Feb to 4th April each Wednesday night) your name will go into a draw and the name pulled out of the hat will win........$1000!!!

So enjoy yourself over the Christmas/New Year break, and come back and join us in 2018 for some racing fun and a chance to win.

December already - lots of riding to do.

Club Championships are on this week (7 December) for criterium racing. The Christmas Party for all on the following weekend (10 December). And we really need helpers with a number of club roles as we head into 2017.

We've had four great evenings of racing at Wodonga TAFE's driver education centre, Barnawartha. There's one more for 2016, on Wednesday 7 December. These races will be our club championships for each grade. Get there from 5:30pm to sign on & pin on a race number. As you'd expect, only AWPCC members can become club champion. But all-comers can race. The more the merrier! If you're off the bike, come and watch. You'll see more than just 11 seconds at the end, like the video below from 23 November.

Help needed: running the club.

There is a desperate need for us to have more club members helping out - in many roles. Without more hands to assist, we really won't be able to run races. Yes, it's that big a deal.

People have changes with workload, or family needs, or move from the area ... so they have to step down from roles. Can you - or your nominee! - help with the general club committee? Or the race committee (that's imperative)?

It's clear people are contributing - look at those who set up signs, marshal, etc. But what we're looking for is people who can help with fundamental club-running activities.

How? Come to general committee (Monday 12 December, 7:30pm, 374 Amatex St, East Albury). Or email the secretary, Chris Little awpcclub@gmail.com.

Quick notes:

  • Junior Track Cycling runs for two more weeks before a Christmas-New Year break. That is: 5:30pm @ Pearsall Street Veldrome, on 5 & 12 December.
  • Don't forget to renew your licence before it expires at the end of December.
