Club race results - 19.7.2015

Race Report - 50km Handicap.
A stunning winter's day greeted the 25 riders in today's club race. A classic 50km run down the Indigo Valley road provided the 4 groups with an ample opportunity to tune up the race legs for next weekend's classic John Woodman Memorial Wagga to Albury Handicap.
The Albury contingent were besieged by our neighbour's from the North with father and son combination Adrian and Charlie Hamilton of Wagga Wagga taking out the race and fastest time respectively. We love having cyclist's from other areas attend our club races and they are always made to feel welcome (although next time we'll try a little harder to prevent them stealing the win!). Continuing the theme of diversity; it was terrific seeing some of our brethren from the Triathlon and MTB clubs making there mark on the bitumen. Club racing is a fantastic way to begin a transition to road racing and perfectly augments training if your focus is on another discipline.
Congratulations to the runner up Terry Halpin who intimidated the field with his unusual approach to wearing bib knicks. Mark Dunlop brought it home for 3rd. The handicapper may need to examine the data as block had caught 2nd limit by the turnaround at the fire shed with newcomer Garry holding off until half way down Indigo Valley Rd. Well done to Josh Bankes for holding the wheels of scratch on the trip back into town after being dropped by a very cohesive and hard working block bunch who ended up providing the winner.
Thanks to Commissaire Lyn Heritage, Marshalls David Hutchinson and Peta Stewart and Tom Barry for the work they did in organising and officiating.
Good luck to all in Wagga to Albury next weekend and the next club race is on the 8th of August as we host our southern neighbours for another in our series of Vic Interclub races
